To parents, guardians, teachers and all others upon whom devolves the supremely important responsibility of directing the early years of development of childhood, this series of tales which sketch such vivid and delightful scenes of the vibrant life of meadow and woodland, winter and snow, reindeer and jolly men in red suits, should have tremendous appeal to little and older people alike. In this collection of stories you will find precisely the sort of healthy, imaginative entertainment that is an essential in stimulating thought-germs in your child’s mind, during this important and exciting time of their year.

Merely from the standpoint of their desirability for helping the growing child to pass an idle half hour, any one of these comprehension unit studies are worth your while. These stories have sought to convey a three-fold lesson throughout, the first based upon natural history, the second of social skills and the third the elementary principles of living which should be made clear to every child at the earliest age of understanding.  Grammar, imagination, vocabulary and critical thinking skills form an integral part of each unit study.

The first of these aims has been accomplished by adapting every one of the characters to its living counterpart in the realm of biology. The child learns very definite truths about which the story is woven; learns in such a fascinating manner that he or she will not quickly forget, and is brought into such pleasant intimacy that his or her immediate sympathy is aroused.

The stories drive home simple lessons on good conduct by attributing many of the same traits of character to the feathered and other heroes and heroines that are to be found wherever the human race made its habitation. The praise-worthy qualities of courage, love, unselfishness, truth, industry, and humility are portrayed in the dealings of the humblest of humans, and the field and forest folk and the consequential reward of these virtues is clearly shown; the stories reveal the unhappy results of greed, jealousy, trickery and other character weaknesses. The effect is to impress indelibly upon the imagination of the child that certain deeds are their own desirable reward while certain others are much better left undone.

Once again each unit study is adaptable to older or younger age groups.  For younger learners parent/educator interaction will probably be required but an assessment of the learner’s understanding and grasp of the concept will be attainable.

Blessed Season Greetings to You And Yours

Free Homeschooling eBooks & Teaching Resources.

Free Parenting & Homeschooling eBooks and Resources

Homeschooling is becoming a more popular choice for a number of reasons for families around the world. However much is still unkown about curriculum, socialisation, parenting, how to cope with running a home, looking after a family and homeschooling your children. And then disaster strikes, and perhaps the home becomes a single parent home. How does a single parent cope? How to avoid and/or identify areas that could become areas of concern? How can we do it all and still be great parents? How do we recognise that our child may have a learning difficulty or may be stronger in some aspects (subjects) than others? What curriculum, if any, do we choose to homeschool our child/children? Do we unschool or adopt another approach?

The books on this page aim to answer all those questions and more, also relating to general queries and questions as parents we will often ask ourselves.

Within this page you will also find absolutely fantastic resources that can be used as “alone” curriculum or as an addition to curriculum, or can be adapted to lapbooking, notebooking or whichever method of education you have elected.

What I can say is that scrolling through the pages you are bound to find something of value that you can make use of if not in your own home, classroom or homeschool, then you will know of someone who will find the information useful.

When I started St Aiden’s Homeschool some years ago it was with the intention of homeschooling my chldren after having NOT found a suitable curriculum. We are not spoiled for choice and the prices are astronimical. Added to the fact that I am a single parent, working full time at law (at that stage I was), homeschooling my kids and hosting and maintaining a website it seemed a waste not to share the resources we so loving researched, created and nurtured to the extent that they became eBooks. Not just printable worksheets – complete ebooks, unit studies with an immense amount of input and research into each one.

We decided to share these resources with many other families that we knew did not have the resources to pay for the ridiculously priced curriculum on offer in our country, particularly if one considers the poor quality that was on offer. It worked like a dream. Many thousands of families in South Africa now use our free ebooks as part of their daily homeschooling lives, and many parents have been inspired to undertake the same journey and start developing their own material which they willingly share.

While I also write books exclusively for a publisher and also for digital download now, my website is first and foremost in my mind and I keep it updated with fresh content constantly.

I hope that you will make use of a few of the tens of thousands of free resources we have available for teachers/homeschoolers/professionals/students/parents, and as you get to know St Aiden’s Homeschool, you will see that we stop not only at learning to read and write. We go as far as College. And we will continue to grow and continue to provide free educational material to those who otherwise would not have the opportunity of obtaining same.

With blessings to you on your homeschooling journey

Kids’ Activities and Games

Free Activity eBooks & Teacher/Parent Resources

Ideal for Preschool years and can be adapted to much older children.

These units can be used alone as unit studies, or incorporated into notebooking or lapbooking. Collectively they provide a number of years’ curriculum in a fun, informative way that encourages children to want to learn more. Books include writing activities, colouring, ccritical thinking skills, fine motor skills, wordsearches, mazes, crossword puzzles, unit studies, reading, comprehension, arts, crafts and other fun activities. Many include rhymes, poetry and activity plays for younger children and “circle time”. In all of my books we have made an effort to incorporate “learning is fun”.

Each dictionary can easily be enhanced with additional activities but should quite comfortably occupy a young child for a week, particularly when one gets involved with the cutting and pasting activities.
